Summer disapeared after serious injury...
Hi all. Good that we have this forum as it motivated me to recover quicker than quick!
On May 26 I had a silly accident during a 2 week offroad holiday in the Balkans. The second riding day, in Albania (you don't want an accident in Albania, I can tell you) my front wheel broke away doing 20km/h (!) and my KTM 450 fell on my left leg breaking it no less than 6 places. I'll spare you the nightmares I went through but it involved:
- travelling 350 km in a Landrover and an old VW bus on unpaved roads without painkillers
- removing my Sidi Crossfires, pulling them of. That hurts, really bad...
- waiting 3 days for a Learjet to fly me back home (commercial flight was no option)
- wait at home for 3 weeks to be operated because of swelling
- a week after they removed the stitches a small infection which was nailed down quickly
- sitting on MY BUT FOR 7 WEEKS !$@#$!!!!!!
- and now starting to walk again
Can't wait to ride again my friends, my 1200 has been on trickle charge in the middle of summer, poor thing! I have set my first riding day to be on August 20 (hope I can walk than...) and enjoy a bit of summer!
Here's some pics...
Oh, yes, if I make it, on my bike on the 20th I'm gonna celebrate!

I know the feeling.
In May, I had a fellow HOG member (who should have known better) jump in front of me while in a MC formation.
He should have waited!
Pulled in front of me, then stopped as I'm making a very low speed turn and expecting to accelerate.
Before I could get my foot down, I laid it (Ultra) over and cracked my ankle.
Just a fracture but has taken two months before I could remove the soft boot.
Still stiff.
Haven't been on a bike since May 20.
My summer has been lost.
No golf, no MC riding.
I have 130 miles in for the year.
Used to do that for ice cream.
Follow the Dr's orders but summer will suck.
Get well.

I'm right there with you...mine was June 8, same leg. My hardware was on the outside, also waiting for the swelling to go down. Got it out last week. Although I had the benefit of quicker and closer treatment...That must have been rough.
If you had done the other leg, then between us, we could hold up a bike. Get well soon to us both.
