Couple years back I got a warning ticket

lawman is always right on the side of the road.
fighting is done in court.

if you're clearly in the right, judge might cut you loose.

if you are even slightly on the wrong side of the law
the judge will surely whack that gavel down
and say
*I don't want to see you ugly *** again*

7-8 years ago I'm on the interstate. nice day. light traffic.
(before I bumped the motor up to 121 inches)

stealth cop stealthed up behind me and lit me up.

First question - does that thing have a speedometer on it??

Yessir.

does it work??

Yessir.

You were hitting 95.

Yessir, sorry about that.

License and insurance card please.

Says 2006 SuperGlide here.

Yessir, double aught six.

WHAT HAPPENED to it??

I like to build ****, sir.

So, he proceeds to circle my machine.

The VIN gonna match these papers??

Yessir, the numbers are on this side.

What kinda exhaust is that??

Vance and Hines, sir.

How loud is it??

I don't know, want me to start it up??

Yeah.
then after about a second and a half -
Shut it off.
Yeah,
it's loud.
Where's the mufflers??

The baffles are inside, sir.

Law says mufflers, not baffles.

I can't see your license plate sticker.
What's it say??

November, sir.

Well, I can't see it from here.

As another five minutes of lecture proceeds, I am tabulating the damage.
Tickets in Tejas ain't cheap.
150-200 for each infraction.
I figure I'm at about 7-800 already.
The stealth cops here pride themselves on multiple infraction incidents.

So, then he hands my paperwork back to me,
and says -
"you need to slow it down a bit".

Yessir. have a nice day.

the mudsickle was under construction at the time............................

.
evolved into.................
.
.

.
.
and yes, I have been written up for 95 before.
paid my fine and went on my way......
.
but getting hassled nowadays ain't nothing like it used to be in the 60s and the 70s.

It got really bad in around 1978 when Judge Woods was assassinated.

I have many dozens of snapshots in my archives of friends and choppers.

San Antonio was a small town in the 60s and 70s. traffic is a hell hole now.

Chances were if you seen a sickle on the street, it would be someone you knew.

my 64 XLCH was kind of a chopper.

I was building a real chopper at one time,
and a friend offered me a running 1935 Ford sedan for that, when it was still a basket case.
I jumped on that quick. wound up with a 55 Chevrolet motor.

next, some random snapshots from my archives.

next three are my brother's machine before he screwed up his leg and went to three wheelers.

next one, this is my machine in front of a friend's shop

I've known Tommy for more than 50 years and he's been in that location for more than 40.

This is what he was riding when I met him, the Milwaukee Jackhammer.

he still has that machine, but it evolved into this below.

Cops were chasing him and he crashed and caved in one side of the tank, so he decided to beat on the rest of the tank. etc.
