The HD 180/65-16 is replace in an almost prefect match by a 195/60 R16. Height is the same the car tire is .59 inches wide giving you some room if the tire were to run low . Yes the 205/55 R16 work also but a lower tire and ,98 of an inch wider.
Watch out for tire that are call Wheel protectors or rim protectors. They have a thicker side wall on the curb side and will likely rub where other tires of the same size will not.

Default New to Darkside

Hey everyone I know that this thread is a little older but I am having trouble getting a little info.

I have a 2011 Harley Fat boy lo and my rear tire is a 200 55-R17

If I want to go for a run flat. What size tire will I need?

I appreciate any help anyone can provide.

There is a ton of information on darkside on the goldwing forum. A lot of guys there are running the Bridgestone Drivegaurd and liking it.

I have also used a 205/55R16 on my electraglide and it fits fine. The speedo is more accurate.
On my 2014 Limited I hooked my Powervision up and adjusted the speedo so its dead on with my garmin GPS.
what year Electra? Mines 130/90 16 id love to try a car tire

Do you run your OEM front tire or match it with something else?

For the rear I favor the 195/60R16 It come out the same height as the 180/. On the 2020 where rear 18 inch wheel was replaced with a 16 inch the 195/65R16 comes out the as running the 18 180 factory tire.

I ran car tires on the back of my Yamaha all the time before I traded it towards my RK. I loved the way it would stay up on the tread. The biggest problem I had was getting a car tire to seat on a MC rim. It required somewhere around 90#s to get anywhere near seating which really stresses the sidewall integrity. The Darkside folk know which tires can handle the stress, you might want to go outside this forum to a Metric forum and investigate this…
