As far as I know no one has ever put a car tire on the front of any bike (2 or 3 wheels) for for real daily riding.

Now lots of folks put a motorcycle rear tire on the front of their bike. I did this. In my opinion the extra rubber aids in handling, especially in the rain and giving the front brakes more rubber to work with cannot be a bad thing.

it sounds to me that quite a few people are running " double dark" by mounting a car tire on the front of their two wheelers. i guess by mounting one on my trike i would be running " triple dark ". just wondering how it would handle ?

That was a motorcycle rear tire mounted to the front, not a car tire on front. But for a trike, I personally don't see that there would be a big deal in it.. The only issue is finding one.

Default Trike front tire

What would a ct or a rear mt be called on a trike, "triple dark" ? LOL ! Our local trike guys are doing just that, running a rear mt on the front with great results. Better ride, braking ,wear etc , just as on a bike. Two or three have over 30K and looking to go 40 on the mileage.
If you want to go with a wider car tire on the front all you need is a rear chopper fender from Led Sled guys and a 5.5 inch modular rear wheel with a front hub and your in business to mount anything up to 7.5 inchs wide. The cans need notched also but all fork parts are stock, would like to see someone try it, I think it would bad *** !

Double Dark is a car tire on the rear and a motorcycle rear tire on the front!

Car tire on the trike front makes sense. You never ride on the crowns of the front tire, and all of the wear is down the center.

This last summer we did a trip of about 3,500 miles on the trike. The people we ride with looked for the most twisty roads they could find. Our front tire started out nearly new, and is now down enough it will soon need replaced.

That's the down side to mc tires on front of trike, scrubbing them off in twistys. I would also like to find ct for front of my trike, definitely going with back tire on front if I can't find one.

Recently Avon has come out with a Trike specific front tire. It looks to have 2x the rubber of a regular M/C front tire. 8tscthe Avon Cobra Trike tire. I have one mounted but haven’t ridden it yet. It gets good reviews. Those that have ridden it say it’s munch better than a reversed rear. And for the front size...the availabilty of car tires in that size is very limited.
