Not using car tires ... but, I did end up trying the Avon Safety Mileage II (AM 7) tires on my bike ... both front and rear ...

... started a thread about it ... https://www.hdforums.com/forum/dyna-...hop-glide.html

Got about 5,500 miles on them, so far ... I have been riding on some really great roads ... some canyon carving in SoCal and along the PCH up to the Bay area ... so, not just straight lines on the super slab ... I do not think the profile of the tires has made that much of a difference ... I keep up with others on standard profile motorcycle tires, no sweat (scrapin' the boards) ...

Chop--Unlike car tires, those have a proper crown and provide a very old school look that suits your bike well. But with all those grooves, the contact patch area must be 30% less than that on an ME880. Though they may wear well, depending on compound.

I cant tell you how a Dyna would handle, but I have a Darkside tire on my 1300 Tourer, and I love it. Takes a little getting used to, but after about 5 miles you feel right at home. It is more of a mind thing I think, as you keep thinking about leaning it up on that outer edge in a turn, but it grips like hell. I can get off the Tourer and right on the Dyna with no trouble at all, but I CAN feel a difference for sure.

I have leaned enough to scrape the floorboards without an issue. Wet weather water shedding is awesome, and stopping power is insane! I only got 5200 miles out of the original tire, have 6800 on theDarkside tire, and still showing 7/32nds tread depth.

It isn't for everyone, but I'm glad I did it. I ride aggressively, so it has saved me a lot of money. I ride two up a lot, and the wife commented on how much smoother it is.

Not trying to sway anyone, just relaying my experience.

I love seeing the reports of people that have "actually" tried it.

Said before on the first page of posts; those who denigrate the idea haven't tried it, while those who've gone Darkside, [most] won't go back. My older bro went Darkside on his Goldwing, he swears by it.

IF your having mileage issues go too a touring compound rubber,, NOT a sports soft rubber,,, for **** sake get off the drugs guys,,, Before you kill some innocent person when your bike becomes a stray missile
...
