HARLEY: VCI map locked by dyno tuner
#41
Sorry I didn't quite make sense there did I, lol ...I was just thinking that with a head job it would make an existing tune lean due to more air ...but you said your idling went over rich instead which seemed to be the wrong way around ...or did I pick you up wrong?
(it's past my bed time so just ignore me, lol)

So I need to re adjust the air flow model and/or figure a better location for the O2's. Preferably both.
And how this relates to the OP original question is every tuner has their own methods for handling this stuff, which they consider their art and feel they have a right to protect it. And they do. But not at the expense of putting the person who bought the art's result at risk should the cal need to be reinstalled.
And there are ways to model the cal the bike is running if you want to put the effort in. You will get close. But, it will take a lot of effort, more than most will want to put in.
So it all comes down to trust and relationships.

Back when I was racing cars we had this problem, a few tuners would lock their tunes and the vehicle owner was basically SOL if he needed to make tweaks himself or have someone else do it.
For those of us who feel tunes are dynamic and need to be tweaked at times, the answer was to quit using those tuners. Didn't realize bike tuners were doing it too but can't say I'm shocked.
Before you get tuned; ask.

No, it is a corrupted file so it cannot be used for anything.
The tuner should email the calibration with the adjustment made for the customer.
Since every bike is different, simply using a tune for the same bike and mods will still need trimming due to mfg variables the exist with every bike, engine, and part...especially injector production tolerances.

tuner has emailed tune but not after some back and forth emails, however how can i be sure its the tune currently in the bike ?
i wouldve asked if i knew such a thing was being done as it was my first dyno i had no idea..ideally tuners should mention it to the customer prior to commencement and let customer decide wether to go ahead or not.

Bike runs the best since ive had it..responsive,decel pop gone, smooth on cruise not sure on fuel mileage havent had a long run yet due to bad weather.
before the dyno i used a can map which i smart tuned it made 101HP@5700 / 104TQ@4500 now it makes 111.24HP@6000 112.76TQ@4000
103 breakout
stage4 race kit

Not going to mess with tune I wanted the map bcause prior to dyno the can map had rev limiter set on 6500 after dyno I saw no point in having it this high since all power in at 6000 so I wanted to lower it to 6200 but had forgotten to ask tuner to do it ..without the map it's impossible to do small changes like this.
