Just wondering as I still feel I'm running lean with some hesitation and some fair amount of decel popping. Yes I understand that can be normal but I'm just wondering if I'm still gaining longevity of my bike if I were to apply an autotune type of device on it. Iv'e seen some people say the aftermarket plug-n-plays are much more better and they feel their bikes are much more responsive and no decel popping after the aftermarket remapping. Thought? Actually looking for more experiences.

subscribed because I am just about to go through this process. The previous owner had an fi2000 that I absolutely hate, and I already have the FP3 laying around that I was going to through it. After disabling the fi2000, I noticed lag and devel pops big time.

Part of me wonders if I should bother with the tune if I go straight to the FP3. I need to do some road testing.

Before you completely screw yourself, my understanding is that Harley has, with a gun to their head by EPA, agreed to no longer tune and enrich any bikes at their dealerships. Indeed, any "race only" tuners have been pulled from their parts dept. and will not be offered. My suggestion is go with an independent. YMMV [and undoubtedly will].

Thanks Sail, good to know however I have already gotten a SERT dyno tune at my local HD dealer. My question was what are peoples experiences with putting on aftermarket tuners like FP3 or PV after their dyno HD tune. That is a very interesting read though...I would have thought they would have been on top of EPA regulations and very well informed of penalties to come if they didn't follow suit.

The Harley deal is with 2017 and later models. Not your 2009. Install your tuner, save your current tune, and then load a better tune. If the time arises you can reinstall the dealer tune later. I run a Power Vision (2011 FXDC) which allows this, FP3 will not work with you 09.

Yeah I stand corrected. When I bought my PV the FP3 only worked with 2015 up. They have now expanded that line to work with 07 up. IN their description it still doesn't fit but they now have non can bus versions.

If you've got the FP3 then use it. Guaranteed to be better than the stealerships anything, tuner or dyno. Their hands are tied all around. It's not like it's gonna blow your bike up or something like that.
