Default Smart Tune Question

Hi chaps, I am useing the the SE program to tune my 2016 softail and trying to work around smart tune like I used to no longer works from 4000rpm up as you cannot manually enter that area into closed loop for data collection purposes. So to get data higher in the rev range it would seem I will have to use the smart tune feature.
I don't know for sure what else happens when you program a smart tune collection cal into the bike but I am of the understanding that timing is reduced to help prevent engine damage.
My question is can one simply add timing of the same amount to the cal that is to be smart tuned with that would be subtracted so data is collected with the same timing that will be run in the final cal or is the smart tune timing table a set value that cannot be manipulated?
I have been led to believe the timing reduction is 4° but I don't know for sure anymore.
Thanks for any helpful responses.

Anyone? Surely out of all the smart cookies on here someone could tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree!

Well after stuffing around with smart tune for a few days in its latest configuration all I can say is thank goodness for MyTune (cheers Frank) because without it getting a half decent result tuning on the road would be beyond my capabilities with this program, for those interested you can no longer see what changes smart tune makes to a cal as they are not saved to the vci as you program the smart tune changes into the ecm, they just pass through, that's why I asked the question about it but it seems nobody knows what it does or if they do they don't want to say. Anyway mine is done so on the road tomorrow with the lads for a run.
Hilly out.
