Default HD Dealer using FP3 to tune bike?

Can HD dealers acces your FP3 to look at your base map to troubleshoot and tune your bike? I didn't know if they had a way besides whatever device that was originally paired with it. I dropped my bike off at the shop because of a pinging and rough idle issues. When it's cold, it will cough, pop and backfire. The service writer didn't seem to have any issues that I left my FP3 still hooked up. I hope that it doesn't screw up my extended warranty!

Don't think they have or want the ability to use an aftermarket tuner.

However you are using the FP3 tuner, non compliant and they might or probably deny a warranty claim. Stating the aftermarket item caused the problem.

HE is on a 2015 i believe. Yes they can access the FP3 if you left it on the bike, and many dealers can and do use aftermarket tuners on pre 17 bikes.

Mine is a 15 RGS and when I had warranty work done, an oil leak issue, I left my FP3 tuner in. Basicaly the dealer said that warranty would cover it as long as the aftermarket part didn't cause the problem.

Since he has the FP3 and complaining of idling issues or the such, I would think they will cop out and say no warranty. JMO

Default Dealers/FP3

I learned about the FP3 from my dealer's parts counter guys. They told me the service guys were using them and getting great results. They also said that using one wasn't a problem for the service guys.

I didn't discuss warranty as my bike - 2012 FLHTK - is way outside warranty. My bike does have an HD Race Tuner on it installed by the previous owner. The tune or canned map it had in it left a lot to be desired. I bought an FP3 and put it on the bike and it fixed the issues I was having immediately.
