Default SEPST for dummies, yea it's for me !

I'm on a fixed income so I'm getting an unmarried SEPST , I'd love to buy new but I can't afford it.Here in Australia all the lads swear by the guy that unlocks them. He has an Ebay business doing it and through the AU HD forums too, there have been no bad reports there either.
The SEPST is warranty legal here too , just in case .
This little M8 goes quite well but you can feel it's being held back at the air box and mufflers.
Basically I want to upload the map that's in the bike stock an M8 2018 Street Bob and then tune as I add things , I'll open up the airbox a little and then go with some straight pipes with enough baffling to not mess stuff up or draw the crabs. Stuff I can reverse engineer if a warranty claim comes up.
I've known this guy since I was a kid http://www.bikecraft.com.au/bikecraft-cairns.html he says I should work it out well enough to get a baseline for him to dyno. He knows I'm broke so he'll help out where he can but he said on the proviso I do as much as I can so his time isn't too affected as he'll discount my costs to a point . Yea i'll feel better and learn more this way as well I think. He knows I map my own stuff for my Supercharged Ford Pick up so he reckons I'll get it.
I've also bumped up a few SEPST posts to have handy for myself to read and reread to get the lingo in my head a little.
Baby steps, is there any tips I should know of ?
My issue is how to kick off with an unmarried tuner box?
It may not have all the paper work with it , I know I have to download the SEPST to my PC I think then marry it to my ECU then upload the stock map to my PC and then work on updating that map to my mod plan.
Are there maps for the M8 Softails ? I heard TTS tunes are similar do I buy a map from them and go from there?

You can download the software here:

http://prosupertuner.harley-davidson...uperTuner.aspx
Use all 1s for the serial number if you do not have your VCI yet.

The same link has a great FEI overview and tuning training link at the top right.

The current version of the software includes-

2018 50 State Softail Milwaukee-Eight™
107 Stage 1
107 Stage 2 Torque
107 Stage 2 Power
107 to 114 Stage 3
107 to 114 Stage 4
114 Stage 1
114 Stage 2 Torque
114 Stage 2 Power
114 to 117 Stage 3
114 to 117 Stage 4

How can I tell if the unit I have has ever been paired with my bike or not? If it hasn't it'll be up for sale, way too much to adjust and tune then what Im looking for.

Maybe download the race pro download and plug the SEPST box in to it or plug it in to the bike and get whatever feed back from it to be right. Not sure yet.
I'll buy the box from ya if it's no good to you but working condition.

Sounds good to me, the thing is I need the cable, somehow it didn't come with it. I got my bike with 1088mi this summer from the org. owner who had it dyno'd when he added the V&H pipes at a dealer here in VA. I'm think they either used it or opened the box and set it aside, and him being new spaced it and off it went. It's gotta work it's brand new but I don't have any plans of tuning it to that degree at the moment. Make me an offer on it, knowing you need the little cable too.

I don't want to hijack here, but I have a SEPST from 2011 and I need to update the software so I can install a new canned tune for my new engine build. The tuner is currently married to the ECM on the bike that's getting the new engine.

The question is: Will I wind up with a less featured software system based on new EPA regs?

My new build is a 4 3/8" S&S crank, 107 CI, S&S 583 EZ start cams, head work and D&D Fat Cat. I'm looking for 107 tune to start with, preferably for my setup but a 107 with 255 cams or 110 with 255 cams will get me going.

When you download the software you plug in the Serial# of the box, so it knows right off the bat what it'll support and not via the maps and supported years etc. My box is from 03/2016

Max I think you'll be good , even if it gives you EPA canned map values for your state of tune you'll be close enough to start an auto tune from there to get er' running sweet ,I think ha ha.
Someone will know but I think you're good.
Moose how about fifty bucks and I'll pay postage, make an effort to see if it's working first man hey !

$75 and you got a deal!

I think I'd much rather go with an easier to tune unit, nothing radical planned, K&N filter next, nothing dramatic.
