Yup, it is official as of about a week ago.

Yes the guy (Jeff Soffer) does own the fountain blue <sp> in Miami.

He owns several HD dealerships. His wife is Elle MacPherson (whoooo hooooo), and he is making MANY changes.

There will be more events like the chill cook off coming 11/19.

He is making a GAME ROOM with a bar, pool table, bumper pool, ping pong, etc... he wants to make it a hang out.

YES Elle does swing by when she is in town. So before you ask me.......

The sales staff has been drastically cut.

There will be good bands. The hourly rate has gone up or will be going up to $109/hr. And it will be kicked up again as soon as everyone is used to it (or the bitching lows down).

There will be packages. Like if you get both tires changed or just the back, or whatever, there will be good packages for us customers.

They will be more competitive supposedly than Chester was. Jeff (the new owner) knows Chesters loses a lot of buyers to Stuart (Treasure Coast Harley).

He dumped the GM as expected and brought in his own GM from I think it is San Jose, CA or someplace out there.

Seems like the "hangout" idea is getting more common wth HD dealerships. My local dealer, Bert's Barracuda HD, just changed owners and they are going that route too. They are severely limited by space, but seem to be doing a good job considering how little they have to work with.

 

They've cut their opening hours and are pissing people off. A friend of mine said they open at 11am on Sundays. I heard that normal opening hours are 10-5 weekdays. I will be shopping around for more competitive prices. The new GM was rude when I spoke to him. The jury is out and we shall see.

 

I just got off the phone with them to see if they would still honor the tires for life program that Chester's had, which was one of the main reasons why I purchased my 48 from them. Looks like i have no incentive to perform my maintenance at the dealer anymore, so I'm shopping around to fine a trustworthy local shop.

I live in Lauderdale and have used V-Twin in the past. They did a good job for a fair price.

 

Yep, they don't honor free tires anymore. Seems like everything they have done so far has been a big FU to the community. But, you can eat chili so there's that.
