We are relatively new to the area and are hitting whatever bike events we can. We saw that in mid January there is the Gibtown bikefest. Has anyone been to it before? Is it worth the ride up from Sarasota?

We have been somewhat disappointed in the amount of vendors in the things we have gone to so far. Granted we are a bit jaded having relocated from the Daytona area where there is no shortage of vendors but still.

We have been looking for decent vendors with pinstripers etc....

Less than 10 miles from me, don't waste your time!!. Small and cramped, with not many vendors.
Look into Thunder By The Bay in Sarasota, I believe that is in January also. It will be moving to the fairgrounds this year after 1 yr at Lakewood Ranch. Long running event that got to big for downtown...

Vendors seem to be the same everywhere selling the same crap.
Every once and awhile you get a independant with something cool but mostly it's same same.

 

I'll 3rd it. Same ol' vendors - knock-off sunglasses, pakistani "leather" vests, cheap, gaudy pocket knives, doo rags and ambulance chaser attorney's. At least they don't charge you to park or get in - yet!

 

It's a place for those to go that don't have the big bucks to spend, a place to hang out and meet up with folks from around that area. I have lots of memories, from Tonka town to the carnies that use to show up. Yep, lived out that ways years ago.
It is what it is, small event compared to Daytona, Leesburg, Thunder, etc..
Those that hit Webster would have no complaints with the Gibtown Bikefest.
