Default New to FL MC insurance question

Hey everyone. I finally registered and insured my bike in FL. I came from N.J. which is a high price insurance state but I was stunned when Geico raised my rate from about 500 bucks / year to 1450. I’m stunned. I don’t like cheating out on insurance but this seems a bit off the chart. I have my cars with them and they didn’t really change much so that only added to my surprise in the bike insurance.

I have a 14 SE RK. I’m hoping there are better alternatives and would mind hearing from any of you. I’ll also be looking st the usual suspects online.

Thanks for any potential leads.

Try a quote from Progressive. They give multiple vehicle discounts.

Progressive's initial quote will be pleasantly surprising in comparison to your Geico quote...right up until you receive your first renewal bill. Then expect a 50% increase in premium. And I'll give you a spoiler alert, when you call to question "why such an increase with no accidents or claims" they will tell you it's because of increased operating expenses in your area. "You mean I'm paying for other people's accident?" No, just increased "operating expenses".

That sure doesn't sound like Geico. My wife and I have a policy for both of us covering three motorcycles and it ain't nowhere near that amount. Shop around is all I can say. Geico is my first choice though. Allstate is not bad.

I found Geico to be the cheapest. When I had an accident, they took care of me incredibly well as if I was their only customer ever.
And my insurance did not go up.

The accident was 100% my doings.

Therefore, I am HAPPY with Geico.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason on how insurance companies set their rates. I had Progressive and watched my rates go up “Progressively” each year. I switched to Geico with my Venture and then with my Rocket with great rates. When I bought my Ultra Geico hit me with a high rate. Allstate, who insures my cars and house, came in at a price around 200 with full coverage for the year. Just got to do your homework when picking a company.

Progressive was less then half of what Geico quoted me. I've been with geico for years no company comes close to their rates for my cars though.
