Perfect Florida Riding Weather - Who Went Where?
#21
Ok, yesterday was New Years Eve. Weather was nice with temps around 80. The S.O. had to work so I was on my own with nothing to do until the festivities later in the evening. Right around noon I decided it was a good time for a ride and get a bite to eat. Did you know our Sams Club here in Daytona has a Jumbo Hot Dog and Drink Combo for $1.50 + .10 tax. Just perfect as we were going out to dinner in the evening and did not want to eat too much.
So as I headed out I decided I'm going to find as many roads as possible that I don't use much to go the 7 miles to Sams. Well, almost an hour later I finally got my Hot Dog.
When I got back on the bike I figured I would keep up finding different roads that took me to "no where". Actually one road did lead to "no where" as it was a long few miles to a dead end.
At the end of two and a half hours I finally found my way home. Don't think I was on a road that the speed limit was over 35 MPH and many were 30 or under. In the business areas the traffic was quite heavy and lots of stop lights. On some of the other side roads, no traffic at all, but many Stop Signs that gave me an oppotunity to practice my Stop and Goes with out putting my feet down. I will freely admit if LEO was watching I would have probably gotten a ticket more often than not. Need more work on holding my stops with out touching the ground.
When I got home I had done almost three hours in the saddle and according to my ESR App, I only did 42.32 miles. This was quite a different ride experience. On most of my rides I will log well over 100 miles that does not take more than two hours unless we stop for lunch somewhere.
So thats my story about "Who Went Where" and I'm sticking to it.
I will say something about this type of ride, you do get to see a lot more but you can be easily distracted and not pay attention to traffic. Ask me how I know...suffice to say, no incident occured, just an "oh crap" moment..

Got a new rear tire, new riding jacket, and new gloves. Been taking the bike to work lately. They were shocked I rode a motorcycle
Looking through my photos in my phone I found one way back in 2016 when I hit 70k miles. I just hit 72k miles a couple days ago. 2k miles in 2 years is horrible! 2019 will see double or triple that.

Been riding for a few days. Wed went for a ride just to clear my mind...My wife called so I pulled over to take her call, when she asked where I was... Ummmmm Ocala. I was just riding and didn't pay attention to where I was going. was a 430 mile day. Rode to work in the Pea Soup this morning, donned the rain gear lowers so my pants would at least be dry for duty.
