Was thinking about doing a day ride. I've only been twice and that was years ago. Which day is the least crowded? I think I went on a Sunday and it wasn't too jammed. Is Friday any less packed?

 

not going this year, it's turning into every other rally, crowds, t shirts, sunglasses, patches. Hotels jack up the prices.

 

I quit doing rally's and shows 13 years ago for this same reason.

Leesburg is a very nice ride from where I live. I've been going over for a day trip for about 5 years. It gets bigger every year but can be hot.

 

Agreed. 10 years ago when it was still a small town rally, it was fun. Now it’s just another huge rally with huge crowds.

 

Thinking about it. I've gone the last three years. We'll see.

 

We go every year, and almost passed this year because of the heat. the last few years were brutal walking up and down main street. But, we have family and friends there, so will make the trip again. And deal with the brutal heat.

 

Thanks. All the comments reminded me why for the last several years I haven't gone to Leesburg, Bike Week of Biketoberfest. They've all gotten too big, too expensive and too commercial.

 

Leesburg is the best rally in Florida, just don't go to Main Street! It is hot, crowded, heavy police presence and full of vendors. We camp out of town and spend 5 days riding the best roads in Fl meeting other interesting riders doing the same. Typical rides include the St. Johns River area to Palatka; Sugarloaf mountain area, including Boondocks and the Hideaway; trip to Cassadaga for a reading and then hitting stops on back country roads; and a favorite trip I lead every year to Pirates, Ma Barkers, Kool Kats and areas north of town.
