Get yourself a cheap import bike and ride it 6 months, you are still interested in riding then think about a harley and since you'll be past the newbieitus you can consider a bike that will be more suited for someone your size like a Road King.

Welcome ...

This is the HD Forum but I'm with the above sentiment.... pick up a used import around 1000cc, get a feel if you like the sport of staying alive on two wheels, if you drop it, your not dropping a $15k bike, save that for later, if you enjoy and want to move up or find its not for you, you won't lose a ton when you resell. Build skills ,especially low speed and emergency braking..Regardless of the size or make the same physics apply..... Buyers market these days, check Cycle Trader and find a deal.

Enjoy the ride...

Go straight for the Harley and take an MSF or equivalent course. It's mandatory in most if not all states for licensure so it must be everything you need to know. Back that up with a couple of "Ride Like a Pro" videos and you're golden. You'll be out there on that long lonesome highway dukin' it out with the 18 wheelers and lane splittin' to beat the band.
