Sadly there really are parts of Chicago that are awesome, one of the best big cities in America at one time.
When I was 13, a friend and I took a train from the suburbs to downtown, rode the L, went to the top of the Prudential building (tallest there at the time), the Shedd aquarium, museum of science & industry and that German sub sitting outside at the time, and had a good time. I wonder how many 13 year olds would be allowed to do that by themselves today?

Back from the dealer with a successfully replaced console widget. Stopped by Kroger on the way home where New York strips were on sale and picked up a couple of packages of them. Dutifully stored them by placing them in a special meat bag (not the boiling kind), and let the machine suck all the air out and seal them.
