Hmm, still cold out there. Daughter called last night, furnace wouldn't turn on. She installed a Nest thermostat a couple days ago (guess she paid attention to some of the stuff I tried to teach her, did it herself) and it said insufficient furnace voltage. Then her VOM quit and she didn't know how to troubleshoot it without one. I'd given her one of those gadgets that looks a bit like a writing pen, end lights up near AC current. Determined with that the AC was good. She shorted the power and furnace wires to the thermostat and the furnace lit up, warmed the house up that way. Called at 6am and said the Nest was working again. She googled Nest problems, and that's common, Nest and a lot of "smart" thermostats need a 5 wire hookup, 5th wire being a common, which hers doesn't have of course. She's going to have to pull a 5 wire cable to the thermostat. Meanwhile, gotta give Audrey my VOM and hope I get a new one before I need it. Or put batteries in one of my old analog VOMs. Probably going to be at her house most of tomorrow.
Somewhere around bike #7 my 4 wheel stuff started shedding rust on the driveway instead on the garage floor. I need a bigger garage. Or a barn. Then I'd have room for some of those craigslist "cheap, it doesn't run" bikes I've been passing up.
That reminds me, it's the truck's turn on the tender. I don't get out much in the salt.
