How well do snake skin boots hold up in weather?
#11
Thanks Coach! I was really more interested in how they hold up in riding conditions. I'm not much of a dancer myself and stick to the conventional bars, so I probably won't benefit from your experience at those establishments. I don't judge your lifestyle choice, and appreciate your advice.
I actually own a pair of snake skin boots. But I can't ride in boots with leather soles.

Yea, I've decided against them now. If I can't ride in them, there's no point in getting them. I only get a new pair of boots about once every 5 years, so I need something that will last.
No snake skin and no leather soles... Thanks again guys!

NOT!
Marks easy, does not waterproof well, expensive.
Snake skin is more of a dress up type boot.
Check out this site some good info, particularly about soles of the boot.

Good God man, at least give everyone a warning that the site is very much poofter oriented.
Not that there's anything wrong with that...oh who the **** am I kidding? There's all KINDS of things wrong with that!

Don't know never had so much $ & feet are too wide for western style boots. Did have some alligator jump boots once--really did. Was too stupid at the time to fix the hole in the sole & tossed them out.

The toughest boots that i have ever owned (and still own after 15+ years) are shark skin. I have gone through several heals and soles but the boots themselves look brand new. Cant hardly scratch them.
Stay away from eel or most any reptile. I had a pair of eel that was just as bad. Gator may be okay, never had a pair.

Agree that you should stay off the bike with snakeskin boots. Under normal wear and tear they hold up nicely but not in any kind of weather. I had a pair of Tony Lama's for 20 years until a damn dog ate them. Great boots and very sharp looking. The snake skin eventually showed wear but it just gave the boots more character. Don't be deterred though by boots with leather soles either. You can always take them to a good shoe shop and have them add sturdier rubber tread for not alot of money.
