Was a good story and well put. I always try to wave just feel is being friendly to a fellow rider.
I read a post before on one of the motorcycle pages on Facebook and a lot of the people posting were metric riders and saying that Harley people wouldn't have back to anyone because stuck up. I call BS on it because the majority of the time is is the metric people that do not wave back to me. Yes there are Harley riders that don't wave back but they are fewer.
To each their own though whether you want to wave back or not.

I remember how good it made me feel the first time someone waved to me when I first got into motorcycling riding my 250. I was puzzled at first like he must have thought I was someone else but it kept happening and I eventually figured it out and now I always try to wave back. The only time I don't wave back is when I pulling in the clutch to stop or slow down.
