paint markers for raised tire lettering. How to?

I'm hoping to color the letters on my tires orange. the stock lettering is black. I've seen orange markers on the internet but I don't know the exact procedure besides starting with a clean tire. Should you start with a white marker and then use an orange one or will the orange be okay to go right over the black rubber letters?

Don't think it will work very well. I remember years ago those paint sticks in white for use on car tires.

They didn't look white from the start and didn't last long at all.

Unless someone has some pics to prove different .. a waste of money .

Don't worry about putting white down first hi right to the color but I warn you, have patience and some time to kill. I've done recessed textured letters, which weren't to bad, but my current bike my '10 fxd has raised smooth letters and it was kind of a pain getting it to look good

I've found something way better than tire paint. Iron Cross Innovations makes these rubber tire lettering kits that bond to your tire with a special adhesive. I've got them on my bike and my car and love em so far. Here's a link to the site - http://ironcrossinnovations.com/blog...ire-paint-work

When I was a kid, a long time ago, I got hobby paint for plastic models and tediously painted the bottle cap and then pressed it on raised lettering on my Continental tires. Looked great and wore well but I bet they took all the good stuff out of the paint. Continental is a very long name, by the way!
