Stereotypes

Interesting article I came across:

http://www.allaboutbikes.com/feature...ers-hate-pants

Another stereotype that I think is not true is that Sportbike riders like flip-flops and shorts. I see this occasionally but it is rare. I am just as likely to see someone on a Harley wearing them.

Nice. Have to admit i chuckled when the sportbike riders were mentioned; see so many of those guys in shorts... On the other hand see quite a few HD riders in shorts and sneakers as well. If not for possibly crashing, i stick to wearing jeans, even on hot days, because i don't want to get burnt on the hot parts. Learned my lesson a while back popping a wheelie in the back yard, on the KTM 250 SXF i used to have, while wearing shorts - hot pipe to inner thigh = a bit of discomfort.

Kinda true and kinda not really. I see more standard bike riders with shorts and tee's then sport bike riders around here. Ohio is not a helmet law state so you see few helmets then you see them, but it seems the sport bike guys wear helts more that any other riders around here.

I think it's all true.

212 is a small number of bikers to do a survey like this but had to agree with what I see around here.Always makes me wonder why these riders wear a fullface with shorts tee's or tanks and sandals. Can you imagine the road rash!Oh they are safe with their false sense of security.

sandals I agree with you on. I wear a ff helmet T-shirt jeans and work boots. Around here when its 110 degrees I'm going for comfort. Its not false sense of security its a degree of what I'm comfortable with in a crash. I'm OK with road rash on my body but my face and head ? Well I'm ugly enough without adding to it.

There is a valid argument to dress for the ride,
not the crash.

I think they needed a larger group to take their surveys on. Some things I see are true and others Could go either way.
