States that recently require skills test
Is anyone aware of any state(s) that have recently stated requiring a skills test or a rider course when obtaining their motorcycle license.
I know most all of them require it, I'm just trying to find any that started requiring it in the last few years. Thanks Muchly! Brandon |
I didn’t know any required this. But I’ve had MC license for lots of years. Recent move from MN to TX, and had no problem getting TX MC license.

Do you mean a road test? Ny requires you to ride the bike while providing a chase car with a driver to follow you with the person giving the test. It's been a long time but I'm sure they make you do figure 8's and circles in both directions usually on a side street. You'd hope every state at least did that lol

Florida requires you pass the MSF course and provide a certificate you completed it successfully before you get an endorsement on your drivers license.
|
Wisconsin requires a rider test, unless you completed a MSF. They had a skills test long as I can remember. Once MFS became more common they changed it to allow you to by pass the test if you took one.
Years back in FL when I got mine I just showed up paid a few bucks and was done. |
Same in Alaska. Rider test unless you've completed MSF.

VA does.

When I moved to Florida I had to take a riders test to get an endorsement. Then when I moved back to Charleston the endorsement followed me when I got my SC license again.
Class DM license is what I have. |
I got my MC endorsement in CT in 1968 and had to take a written and a skills test.

Oregon recently made the course mandatory, use to be an option. Take course or take driving test at dmv |
