hey there Zoider. So maybe someone could give some guys and gals a actual description of when lane splitting is needed. I think that there are people who are not understanding. they may be the people you see going 15 mph. On the road. I have never seen a speed limit on any public operated road at 15 mph but yet the operators will drive at 15 then pass them and bam.. they are now NASCAR driver. on your ***. and just going to run you down... So yes I do believe in passing and staying at front. It really depends on rider level experience. and your style. and beach bars are not splitting lanes...

Not on interstate freeways.
H.B. 149 allows motorcyclists traveling no faster than 15 mph to filter between lanes of stopped traffic traveling in the same direction on roads where the speed limit is 45 mph or less.

description of when lane splitting is needed.
You are on a highway and as the amount of traffic builds it is possible for enough congestion that the traffic comes to a complete stop and then just moves about 1 car length at a time.

Now on you bike you filter down between the rows of stopped cars.

You will always find a few jerks who will close the gap and stop you but once people know about it they generally increase the gap to let you through, possibly not wanting their door mirrors rearranging.

You don't have to. If you are happy to sit in the queue that is your prerogative.

That is what I do here in the east. some a just not understanding, I do not think we are splitting lanes at 65. if the riders understood that we are sitting ducks waiting to get rear ended.

In my town: I regularily get stuck behind cars doing 10 under posted. I have to admit I've done a few illegal passes over here during the warm season. Can't wait for WI to pass reform on lane filtering of some sort... just getting to the front of the pack at a stop light would be nice.

It is not meant for travelling down the road. It is meant for filtering. Passing stopped vehicles. The motorcycle cannot travel faster than 15mph when passing stopped vehicles.
