Home made parade flag holders

5 Attachment(s)
Folks,

For those of you that want to make your own flag holders, here's a couple of ideas. All these mounts were made strong enough to hold a 3X5 flag at highway speeds, and all of them have some kind of retaining pin or bolt to hold the flag pole to the bracket. Safety first, overkill is good when constructing a flag holder.

Home made Flag Mounte

3 Attachment(s)
I made mine myself using 1" PVC, Photo's say it all, couple of notes:

Accompliseed the bends with a standard heat gun.
Added a small piece of 1" pipe to the top of the tube for stability.
used a wire lock Lynch pin to hold everything togather.
Used the soft loop part of heavy duty velcro on mount where touch points were.
Hold on bike with 6 nylon wire ties 75 MPH no problem.
Made nylon covers for transort.

Do not drill holes through everything until everything is alligned, that hole will fit that pole onlY!!!

If anyone wants to get into it deeper just bump me

forgot to mention I found an aluminum pole that fit in the 1" pipe then a wood flag pole that fit in the aluminum, really strong. Got one at Walmart the other at Lowes. then I spent some good money for High quality Nylon Flags.

Motorcycle Flag Mounts - HELP please

Hello fellow riders,

I am going to be riding in the Veterans Day Parade this month. I have found the motorcycle flag mount I want for my 2010 Electra Glide, but I cannot find the size of the roundbar on the back of my bike. I read my manual 100 times over and cannot seem to find it. Does anyone know the diameter of the luggage rack for a 2010 Electra Glide? I think it is the 1/2 parade flag they have, but I am not positive.

My brother in law made this up for me out of stainless steel. It hooks onto my luggage rack and is held in place with a couple stainless cap screws. The bottom of the plate has a rubber pad on it to protect my rack. I bought some aluminum flag poles at Wal-Mart and reinforced them with 3/4" conduit. I can then slide the conduit out to extend the pole when standing in a flagline. It works pretty great

I've got a '14 breakout and it's hard to find a diy mount that doesn't require a hitch. This is just about perfect! However, I don't have a rack, do I really need one?

When you say 'home made' I understand Not factory,,, well this was made by Al Knock in Watsonville, Ca - in his garage - but still very professional - All Stainless steel and polished to a very high shine. including the pole which has a hardwood center, fly at freeway speeds.

Thanks for sharing. That is exactly what I have been looking for. That guy could probably sell those. Everything I find on the market just leaves a lot to be desired.
