In the market for a 3/4 or modular helmet that is quiet.

I currently have a Nolan modular and I just can't wear it anymore. The wind noise is so bad, my ears ring from wearing it. I've been forced to keep wearing my shorty in the cold.

Thinking a 3/4 with a full shield might be the way to go, but not sure.

Quiet is the key, any recommendations?

Not sure there is any "quiet" helmet. I have a Harley (HJC) modular. It has some winds noise, but nothing I would call deafening.

Full face is the best way to go but wind noise is variable depending on the helmet Mfgr and style.
Modulars suck the big one, wind and mechanical noise. 1/2 helmets nothing to stop the noise.
My Shoei 1000 full facce was fairly quiet but wore out. I bought a Shoei 1200 full face and the noise is quite noticeable.
Might want to consider ear plugs to soften the noise.

Try the Shark modular, Harley now sells one it is made by Shark when opened the chinbar goes all the way back and you can still use the face shield just like a 3/4 helmet it also has a tinted sun shield. You can get them at revzilla.com I have had one for 3 years now and love it.

I have the shoei platinum Rj r helmet at it is very quiet. It is much better than my shoei quest full face which has a loud whistle noise. My half helmet was better than the full face. I wear a neoprene mask with the 3/4 on cold days in the low 40s have not tried it in the 30s and 20s yet. Only problem is no shield for rain. I have to pass a hearing test every year for work as part of an annual physical requirement and I would probably go deaf with the full face. I was using ear plugs when wearing it until I got the 3/4, no more issues

I like the ( VEGA Summit ) better than the ( HJC Symax ) modular.......I also like the FULMER 3/4.. for comfort and wind noise.

I haven't yet bought a modular helmet, but webbikeworld's review of the Shoei Neotec states it's as quiet a modular as they've found:

Not cheap, however.

Last Christmas my wife and I got each other new helmets for the same reason you mention. We read and watched the reviews at Revzilla. They are a great store and resource for information.

We got Schuberth modular helmets because they are supposed to be the quietest helmets out there. They are fantastic. Worth the money for sure.

repost from the spring:
I bought a Fulmer 755 for a whopping $72 - this is a GREAT brain bucket! It's everything you want in a 3/4 helmet if you want an integrated shield.
Check out the review on web bike world where they compare to the HJC IS-33
http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motor...vs-fulmer-755/

I bought one for the wife too, but she loves her half helmet. Me - I like listening to tunes over the Sena SMH /10 and the helmet is so quiet - what a pleasure! Web bike commented it was quieter than some of the modular helmets they tested.

You won't be disappointed with this choice .....http://www.fulmerhelmets.com/helmets...open-face/755/
