Review of a device to upgrade your kickstand

bogie here again…

Got a chance to review a new item to help prevent potential damage to your bike – more importantly, to your ego - from an embarrassing ‘oops’.

A Made in the USA upgrade kit for jiffy stands on 2009-2015 Touring models (with plans to expand to additional models and years).

The review can be seen at www.bogiesreviews.webs.com

Hope you find the review helpful.

I did not see it in the review. How much does it cost? I looks good, but can it get the stand popped forward on a bump or any other non planned event?

I generally don't include prices in the reviews because they change...

Currently on their website as $79.95 + ship...

A scratch on a bag or fairing starts at a lot more than that to repair right...

Mention you saw it in my review and maybe it'll do some good... no guarantees though...

This thingamajig has been discussed about two weeks ago and the general consensus was it was a solution for a problem that doesn't really exist.

While I am first in line to agree that it is not a daily occurrence - my wife did have it happen to her on a 2013 Street Glide rental... $2,500 in damage (fairing, saddlebag, footboard, exhaust all scratched up and had to be replaced/refinished).

Granted, if you are fully focused every time you deploy the stand; making certain it is, in fact, fully extended - then this may not be for you.

If you've ever had it happen to you, or helped someone pick up their bike after easing it over once it got past the catch point, your perspective may be different - as is mine. With this, there's much more confidence.

A problem that doesn't exist - I disagree. Not for everyone - certainly. For peace of mind - worth considering.

As with most things - everybody has their own threshold of need/want.

Your mileage may vary.

Yep!

It isn't rocket science in putting down the jiffy stand.

Boy howdy, you got that right! And if you ain't focused when you're putting down the jiffy stand, makes one wonder how focused you are during the ride! But, hey, I'm all for someone making a buck if there's a market for it... I reckon it will be my daily challenge to ensure that I'm not in the market for it...

How about an idiot light, maybe with a loud beeper to let you know
that your jiffy stand is not fully extended??
