05 RK Engine miss?
Hello,
I have a 2005 HD RK Custom FLHRSI, it has developed a engine miss? When I take off from a dead stop (traffic light) sometimes the engine misses and if I don't pull my clutch in fast enough the bike stalls.. any idea what is causing this?
Doesn't happen all the time just once in a while? Thx, Appreciate your comments. GAS

There's all kinds of factors that could be in play here. Does it do it all the time? Has the bike been sitting for an extended period of time? Does it have a full tank of gas? Bad gas maybe? How many miles on the bike? Have you done your spark plugs lately? How are the spark plug wires looking? What do the plugs look like? Does the bike pop or backfire?

Road Warrior, thank you for your reply = Does it do it all the time? NO, 2 or 3 times a day if I'm riding all day. Has the bike been sitting for an extended period of time? No. Does it have a full tank of gas? Gas level does not seem to make a difference, Bad gas maybe? Been through a number of fills, How many miles on the bike? 50,000 miles Have you done your spark plugs lately? Yes, tried new plugs. How are the spark plug wires looking? Need to check wires thx What do the plugs look like?plugs look good. Does the bike pop or backfire? Yes, pops when I shift

FI correct?
if it had any sort of a misfire, it would toss a check engine code in a heartbeat.
I bet this happens when you are under a half a tank of gas....
Check the plumbing inside the tank... the plastic hoses crack allowing pressurized fuel to dump back into the tank, instead of heading to the injectors.
I am told by my HD guru ( who replaced mine in the 03 last summer) that if you open the gas cap and power up the bike, as the fuel pump tries to pressurize the system you can hear the gurgle in the tank. It could also be the pressure regulator.... we replaced mine and the hoses as my HD guru said the regulators do go south.... and if yours is that would explain the symptoms pretty good...still wondering why no codes though
YMMV

Code may be misfire, and you only need 3 things for fire. Compression, fuel and ignition. misfire may be coil. Coil was durability tested for 150k mi and -40 to 140C. You don't have the miles but it is Winter in Canada. You could have a secondary winding going open on you.... Confim the codes and if misfire don't rule out the coil.

Hold the odometer reset button while turning the ignition switch on. Then you can cycle through the codes and write them down. Jamie, from Fuel Moto has the codes on his site.
