Inner primary and primary gaskets

Had inner primary off about 500 miles ago, put new inner primary and primary gaskets in when I reassembled. I'm removing them again to install Baker comp. Can I reuse the gaskets since they were only on 500 miles or should I replace them. I have new ones, just hate to waste gaskets if they are good.

You should be fine.

drain the oil into a clean pan and reuse it along with the gasket.

Gaskets are relatively cheap. I would change them.

Ive used the same gasket like 8 times.

Save the new one for when you actually need it.

Due to the amount of work required to change them if God forbid one goes bad. I would change the inner ones for sure. The outer gaskets are easier and quicker to get to if there is a problem.

Appreciate the input, for the $40 I'll replace them.

I wouldn't necessarily call $40.00 for a outer primary gasket relatively cheap. I've used mine many times over. Just be careful how you handle them.

If the primary chain case cover gasket is damaged or deteriorated in any way, replace the gasket prior to installation of the primary chain case cover.

above is from instructions to install Baker Comp. I tend to always have the gaskets available. and swap them. but i looks like you can reuse away if no noticeable damage.

You also stated only 500 miles ago... i would tend to believe the are fine. Nothing work then doing work and not having the proper O-Ring or gasket on hand depending on the distance you need to travel to get one.

Cool. Can you send me your old one? Think I'll need one in like 5 years. ;)

I finally replaced the inspection cover gasket last month at 150,000 miles. The primary case gasket has been in there since 25,000 miles (2007,) and I've never replaced the derby cover gasket yet (its the rubber O ring kind.)

I think you'll be OK ...

Here in Canada.....
Just did shift shaft seal....
$10 shifter Seal
$82 Inner gasket kit (new bolts, engine gasket, oring for starter, trans seal, etc)
$52 Outer gasket

I can't recall the exact prices, but tax in was $202 I believe, and that's not including $10 Lucas Primary Oil.

If I am removing again, I will be re-using all gaskets again! At least one more time for sure!
