Default SE Compensator on 04?

I have 2004 EGC with 1550 kit installed no other mods except Thunderheaders with 40k miles. Lately after a ride, restarting the bike after a brief stop the gets the clank noise and after sitting will start normal. Thought it could be the battery but that was replaced with the stator 9 months ago. Researching it on here indicates compensator could be going out. My question can the se compensator be installed on this model year and the part number of the kit.

SE not available for TC88 models. You have a better comp than those struggling with the SE comps and stock 07 and up comps.

So What would be causing that noise and no start right away problem it seems to happen after a 15 mile ride and then stop? Where should I look to solve this problem before it strands me?
