Default How many quarts of oil in each hole at service

I ask because I was charged for 7 quarts syn3 at 5k service. I know it only calls for oil and filter at 5k. So how many for just oil and filter and how many for the other holes?

Not sure about 7 quarts? Usually motor with filter change 3 to 3.5 quarts. I put in three and check the dip stick and adjust after running. If they used Syn 3 in the transmission it holds about 1 quart. Primary, if wet holds a little over a quart, 38 oz I think is what my manual says.
Not sure that adds up to seven quarts, but maybe they spilled one

Generally, 4 for the engine, 1 for the tranny, 1 and a few ounces in the primary.
"6 and a bit" total - generally.
I only put 3 and a half in the engine, 6 total works for me.
As always, consult your manual...

What does your manual say your machine holds?
Mine is 4qts w/filter in motor, 1.4qts in the primary and 1qt in the transmission. 6.4qts total which translates into 7 at the dealer.

OK, then it is possible for 6 plus some and charge for seven. Thanks for the replies.

Now this is how it really works with the tech doing your service. The partial quart the tech needs he uses from a previous customer and keeps your additional quart. Over a short period of time he has a collected a bunch of new unopened quarts of oil. I know this how... my buddy has a friend who is a dealer tech and he manages to sell my buddy multiple case of customer paid for Syn 3 oil, cheap. I do my own services on a 2011 Roadglide Ultra and use a little less than 6 full quarts. By the way 4 quarts in the motor is a little excessive.

3.5 for the engine, 1 for the trans and 1qt and 6 ozs for primary. So total of 6 should do the job. The engine does not take 4.

Does 3.5 quarts apply to the 103 engine as well? Coming up on my 5k service on 14 sg, manual states initially fill with 3 quarts then perform cold check, and states it holds 4 quarts.

Well then my owners manual and my service manual are both wrong then.
The specs for my 2009 is 4qts w/filter crankcase, 1.4qts (44.8oz.dry) primary & 1qt trans.

Fill it to where you guys want. I pretty much don't care. I've changed the oil too many times to argue with you experts. Put 5 qts in, LOL
