Default Harley Boom Radio with Sirius install

Hey guys,

I have a 2015 Street glide Special with the new boom audio system. I just bought the sirius radio module that connects under the fairing. The dealer has been very unhelpful on information, as they didn't know the answers to my questions.

I also had bought a hidden antenna but have not installed it yet, as I planned to do both at the same time. The dealer was saying I may not need that hidden antenna as they think the sirius module takes over for the regular antenna. So if thats the case I am confused if I am going to lose local radio. Anyone know about this?

They also aren't sure if I need to bring the radio in for an update after installing it. The instructions don't say anytihng about it, so I am assuming once i connect it the radio will update itself.

Anyone familiar with this?

The xm antenna does not double as the am/fm antenna, totally separate.

You will need a dealer flash in order for the infotainment system to recognize the xm module.

I'd find another dealer, this should be a simple everyday thing for them

Do you know, do I have to actually take it to the dealer, or can i download the update from the website and install it with a thumb drive?

I just plugged mine in and it worked. No dealer flash needed.

You Do Not have to have the dealer flash the system for the Sirius/XM module installation. Just install the module and antenna and your Boombox will recognize the addition. Take the bike outside and turn the Boombox on and it will begin to initialize the Sirius/XM.

The other post concerning the antenna is correct. The Am/Fm antenna is not combined whatsoever with the Satellite antenna.

Once your radio has recognized your Sirius//XM you will need to jot down your Radio (Sirius/XM) ID number and then call the phone number listed on the Boombox screen to activate your subscription. I got 90 days free with mine a while back & I assume that it is still in effect. The 90 day also included traffic & weather "Travellink" information as well.

Good luck with the install - It really isn't very difficult to do.

No, Remove the outer fairing, remove a couple of screws, install the antennae bracket and antennae and plug the module in. 20 min max.

Thank you Harleydude. I really appreciate your input. The dealers here in Denver have no idea about this thing...its been frustrating.
