mayhem bars and the freaking tps connectors.
So i got my black mayhem bars and they look great. 1.25" 10" perfect for me.
The problem with them is the right grip and the freaking wire extension for the TPS. I tried three times to pull it and it came apart all three times. First was pull the switch wires then the tps, next was tps then switches, last was both together. Each time was breaking down the bike install the bars, put the bike back together to find it didn’t work.
Next I tried removing the green connector between the extension and the harness. Same result. Bike still has no throttle control.
What I finely did was remove all 4 green connectors and splice the cable back together so it is “one wire bundle” from the TPS to the main harness in the farring with no green connectors at all. I de-pinned the black Molex connector and pulled the harness that way.
Works perfect! My advice, don’t waste your time or money getting the extension for the TPS. Just pick up some wire and splice it in. The second set of connectors it just one more place to have trouble.

Wait are you talking about the Twist Grip Sensor? If so they make a Screamin Eagle one without the green plug and it has extra long wires that go all the way to the "molex" plug uninterrupted. It's made to not interfere with internally wired bar wiring too badly.

Yes, that is what I am talking about. I made the mistake of buying a 6" extension. Now my TPS (throttle position sensor) or Twist Grip Sensor is one piece to the Molex. I will never waist money on extensions for bars again. I will just get a spool of wire and add what I need. Spool of wire, heat shrink and solder = 20$ and that is what I should have done in the first place. How much is the Screamin Eagle Twist Grip Sensor?
