FLHX clock losing time

I have a 2012 Streetglide that is losing time on the OEM clock/radio. Stopped by the local HD shop and they just wanted to sell me a refurb unit for $300 LOL…is there a reset or computer upgrade? Radio works ok but having to reset the clock or deal with the incorrect time is a PITA

Thanks

I'd be interested to hear any input on this...... but.....

Based on my experience, it is the nature of the beast..

My '12 FLHTK clock will stay accurate for a couple months.... then all of a sudden I will notice it is off 15 - 55 minutes. I keep my bike on a battery tender when parked in the garage between rides.

Ditto. Gotta reset mine every couple of months.

The radios use the cheapest of cheap ceramic resonators rather than a quartz crystal to keep their timebase. This is why the clocks drift, HD wanted to save a few pennies.

Come to think of it, my 2012 does too! I never paid much attention to it, I just reset it when I notice it. But I guess it's more often than I think.

My '07 did as well... in China, apparently they only give you 58 seconds per min. ;)
Anyway, I replaced mine with a pioneer head, Rockford Fosgate amp and Polk Audio speakers bluetoohed to my phone and no more HD Audio issues.

I always thought that mine was losing time because I was approaching the speed of light running on the Interslabs and it's just normal for time to slow down as proven by A. Einstein in his Theory of Relativity.

Sadly the Harmon Karmon's are not great time keepers. Had to reset mine monthly. Finally upgraded to a JVC marine grade unit, no CD, USB, Bluetooth, uses handlebar controls. AND IT KEEPS TIME!!!! Display isn't the greatest in Sunlight but overall a much better radio than the HK.

Time? Why you worried about what time it is.. Just ride.
Seriously, mine does it too. 13 street glide. I don't have an issue with it though. I get there when I get there.

Yep, 2012 ultra and it loses about 5 minutes every month or so.
