Roadside Assistance is now free with State Farm

State Farm has a full page add in the new American Motorcyclist magazine stating the following:

"Ride Free Get More. Our new, affordable rates include coverage that other companies charge as extras. Things like: help repairing or replacing your protective gear, Cost incurred from being stranded, Emergency roadside assistance, and the got your back service of a State Farm Agent."

I called my agent to ask about the add. He hadn't heard of it. He checked and called me back and said as long as you have full coverage on the bike State Farm does include roadside assistance at no cost effective July 1st. All you have to do is call the toll free number on the back of your insurance card. He said it covers up to $100 of repairs roadside or if it cant be repaired on site they will pay for the tow to the nearest dealer.

My Insurance on my 14 Limited with 250K/500K Liability and 500 deductibles and 250K/500K uninsured/under-insured motorist is only $469.32 per year. When I was searching for insurance State Farm had the best rates I could find but didn't offer roadside assistance for motorcycles. Now it's included at no extra cost. I'm 54, married with no tickets or accidents in over 5 years.

That's good to hear. I have StateFarm as well. I am going to see what my agent has to say about this. Thanks. Hopefully we will never have to use it.

I also have state farm....I should ask my agent as well....that's really good news. it means I don't need the Harley upgraded roadside anymore. even though its only 20 bucks a year.

Hmm I'm with State Farm and just re-upped my Road America coverage. I guess I should talk with my agent too.

I'm the same. I have SF as well as the upgraded Road america coverage. I had to have a bike towed about a year ago using the standard HOG coverage and the 4 miles cost the entire $100.

I just sent an email to my agent to get the details.

Good news, another satisfied SF customer...thanks for the heads up!

When my agent called me back he said you don't have to do anything. If you have full coverage it was automatically added. All you have to do if you need assistance is call the 877 number on the back of your insurance card.

I still like ama because they will tow to where you want and not just to a dealer. I only want towed to a shop while far from home. But it's good to know that they offer it now.

I know it varies from state to state, but I'm 53, married, 0-tickets/accidents (ever), same coverage and "both" bikes combined are $495.92 (09 FLHX & 03 XL1200S). Don't know what's better option...5-yr newer bike vs. two bikes...you be the judge.:D
