Default 2000 FLHRI Voltage Regulator - Terminal Socket - HD P/N 72031-97 - cross ref?

Listen. I ain't payin $8.99 for two of these let alone $8.50 for ONE...

These are Deutsch connectors, right? Or Packard...?

Manual only shows sockets and pins for deutsch connectors...

Anyone know where I can look specifically to get a few of these on both the male and female side?

If not....what's it gonna hurt if I a)hard wire my volt pack usin aircraft grade butt connectors with the proper crimp and a good solder for backup (and of course multilayered protection from the elements or b)use some other form of detachable connector?

I mean...jeez...this !$% can't be rocket science since the MoCo service bulletin issued to address the primary fluid leakage down the volt pack wires was to run them vertically up the frame!

In the Service Manual the connector is listed as a 2-Place Facon, you could probably substitute it with a Packard Weatherpack, if it can handle the amps. Or make your own connection like you describe

Facon is the mfg. Googled it, they're in Italy.
The HD service manual is worth the extra $. I have a greasy Clymer manual in the garage, and a factory one in the house when I need more detailed instructions.
