Default 110 engine is no big horsepower "giant killer"

A well tuned 96" will generate more horsepower than a brand new 110" from the factory.

According to Motorcycle.com:

New certification documents released by the California Air Resources Board and the Environmental Protection Agency reveal Harley-Davidson is adding two new “S” variants to its Fat Boy and Softail Slim for 2016.

According to the CARB executive order, the new 2016 Harley-Davidson Fat Boy S and Softail Slim S will be powered by the air-cooled 1802cc Twin Cam 110 engine. Returning for 2016 with the 1688cc Twin Cam 103 engine are the regular Softail Slim and Fat Boy, the Fat Boy Lo, Softail Deluxe, Heritage Softail Classic, Breakout and Street Bob.

Certification documents from the EPA also confirm the two new S models for 2016, rating them at a maximum output of 80.5 hp at 4000 rpm compared to the EPA-rated 76.4 hp at 4000 rpm for the 2015 models with the 1688cc engine.

apples to oranges

modified vs stock

anyone looking for power numbers would do better to look to an aftermarket supplier

My FireBlade puts out 178 HP (@ 10K rpm) with a measly 999cc, if you're looking for numbers.

Just sayin'...

I'll agree with this, but a factory 96" also had a HP in the mid- to high 60s.

I hate to **** on the parade, but those numbers are probably at the crank, not at the rear wheel. so there is probably some losses going through the primary and such making the numbers a little less than what was reported to the EPA. But if one is concerned about horsepower on a cruiser, then you probably are on the wrong type of bike to begin with honestly. If horsepower is your thing, get a sportsbike.

My stage 1 103 measures 82HP on a dyno and I'm thinking that's measured at the rear wheel.
