Default What is needed to put audio handlebar controls on my FLHTP?

It still has the police switches, I understand that I'll need the retro radio kit from Biketronics, but I'm wanting the handlebar controls for the stereo, etc.....

First, you'll have to get the bar controls off a ultra or street glide, along with the associated wiring, including the main interconnect for the fairing. After thats all wired up, hot should be able to drop in any sony head unit with a biketronics bar control unit.

The bike in my sig pic is a 2007 Road King police bike. It's been converted to a Road Glide, with a factory radio in the fairing. I had to swap the main harness, because the Road King doesn't have provision to add a fairing interconnect.

As previously stated, you need the fairing interconnect harness from a civilian bike, along with the handlebar wiring and switches.

You can order a new interconnect and handlebar wiring from Harley directly, or shop the classifieds and ebay. Get a service manual for your bike's year, along with the police supplement. It's not a particularly difficult job, just a little time consuming.

Jenson makes a motorcycle radio with it's own handlebar controller. It's pricey but cheaper an easier than all that wiring.

Hi,

We can supply a 23 pin pigtail to go with our controller so you would not need to get the crazy expensive interconnect harness. It has the 8 switch wires and 3 power wires that need connected to the audio switch wires and power.

So you can get new/used switches and housings from anything 98-13 with a radio, swap your other switches into the housings, and split out the audio switch wires to go into our part.

Another option would be get aftermarket switch housings (pretty cheap) and new audio switches and switch caps from HD to use.
