Default Thunder Max for my 2014 110" engine??

So have a 2014 CVO Limited with the 110" engine. It has Rush slipons and high flow air filter. I've put on a catless head pipe and have no real problems with the way the bike runs and not a guy that has to have the most power and speed out of a bike that I can squeeze.

But I wouldn't mind doing away with a bit more heat and if I do get a bit more torque/power from the bike I wouldn't cry. (I do already have a Ward cooling fan on the bike). So the service dept manager and I do talk engines a bit and he mentioned about me adding a Thunder MAx to the bike for some benefits. So any 110 guys or even 103 guys add the T Max to your bikes and just what if any benefits did you notice. And end up dropping any gas mileage. Mines not bad now, getting 37 to as high as 44 mpg depending on my riding speed. Not to worried if I do lose some mpgs if it happens with the T Max.

Thanks for any input guys

I don't have any experience using the TMax but I did a lot of research on tuners and found that the guys that have them really like them. My turnoffs were, I was told by a few dealers that most HD shops would not mess with a bike that had a TMax unless you had the factory ECM with you to put back on the bike if you were away from home and had a problem. I do not know this for sure but that is what they told me. The big turnaway for me was when I tried to call TMax several times on numerous days to talk to them about their product. Each time I got a voicemail wanting to leave my name and number they would try to get back to me when they could. It also mentioned I could email them. I don't want a product that runs their customer service that way. I want to be able to talk to someone if I have a problem. I went with the Power Vision and love it. Easy to use and no need for a laptop to tune with it. You can also add autotune to it and have about the same money in it as you would a TMax.

I would consider a TTS or SESTP and a good Indy tuner, your at 110" what else your gonna do? A good tuner will maximize that engine, if anything perhaps a different cam then tune,

I had 3 2012 FLHTK's with stage one and Tmax. They all ran great, Tmax is easy to install and Auto tune. Your right fuel mileage suffered some.
We now have a 2014 and a 2015 FLHTK with stage 1 and I put the DynoJet Power Vision 2 on each. The bikes run as good as with the Tmax and maybe better. The PV2 doesn't have the wide band 02 sensors but I'm very happy with the bikes performance and economy. We average 45 mpg and if we are riding local at 65 mph and under we've hit 50 mpg more than once on both bikes. Auto Tuning with the PV2 is simple and if you want you can keep the unit mounted on your bike to monitor temps and pressures like MAP and coolant temp.
I don't think you can go wrong with a Tmax but I'll stick with the PV2.
Good Luck

Doing highway miles, I don't think my mileage has suffered much, if at all. City riding is a different story, being on/off the throttle constantly.
I did cams, lifters, hi-flow air cleaner, 2/1 pipes, the ThunderMax, gearing, etc., all at the same time, as a total package, so not sure what to attribute the gains to.
Its been running like a champ now for 3 years since the upgrades. The extra fuel cost for city riding, is a trade off I would gladly make for the performance gains and cooler running temps.

I have a Thunder Max on two bikes. I've had a couple different issues over the years that I contacted them about. I know that you want to call and get ahold of a person right away. I was a little concerned when I called and had to leave a message. The three times I remember calling them, they returned my call and helped resolve my issue within a day. I have no complaints with their customer service. As far as the product it's self, I've learned how to use it and made changes on both bikes that require re-tuning. It's easy to be in control of your own tune and the bikes run great. Your fuel milage will suffer a little but that's not a concern for me. If I want to ride, I put gas in it and ride. Compared to the cost of the bike, upgrades and maintenance, gas is a small expense spread out over time.

If you are a hands on kinda guy and are computer savy then the TM might be the right unit for you.

My bike runs great and makes good power all while never having been dyno tuned. I have had no issues with my TM.

Tmax made some sense before the o2 bikes came out but it is old tech now. Get a proper flash tuner and tune.

Your bike is still under its factory warranty, right? Just think about it.
