Can I borrow your trans main bearing puller installer and 2-1/4 socket for $50+ ship

Alright gearheads...

I need to pull my trans main bearing and install the new one... as well as tighten the sprocket nut.

If you have the tools and would lend them to me... I can send you $50 plus cost of shipping.

reply to this post or send me a PM.

Thanks in advance for considering.
Will.

I would check with auto zone, they have a free loan a tool program. I've borrowed their blind bearing puller and they might have the 2 1/4 socket

You might come up with a puller that would work and then you could buy the socket for 10 to 15 bucks.

I will check with autozone for the puller but the socket for the sprocket but is a special one because the beast is long and there (from the pictures) is a screw on adapter to in essence secure the end of the socket from moving around during removal and installation/tightening.

I believe you also need the tool that locks the output shaft sprocket. This tool keeps the sprocket from turning while you loosen the nut. I would get the correct tools instead of trying to make a tool from Auto Zone work. You might not get the result you are looking for with tools that aren't really designed for the job at hand. JMHO

Sure fun to ride but sucks when repairs cost so damn much!

I suggest read the factory manual thoroughly. a lot of the tools can be made from scrap and threaded rod, some can't. I made most of the 5 speed tools from some front wheel drive bearing puller stuff and some plate and threaded rod. Just be sure you understand each operation, the case on a six speed can be broken easily as main drive bearing retaining lip is not very thick. Hope you can find a loaner. Mike

Thanks for the suggestion. I do have the manual. Reading up and watching plenty of youtube. Baker put out an excellent instructional video on removing the stock gearset.

Looks like my parts will ship from Boardtracker on the 21st of this month so I have maybe 2 weeks.

Anyways... keeping this post fresh and hoping someone with the tools will oblige.

No skin in the game but wondering if you went to HD and got the specific tools you need how much would that be?

Second have you considered approaching and Indy who may have the tools readily available with the same or simalar proposal?

Either way good luck in the repair

Find a local Indy and offer him the value of the tool to hold till you bring it back along with a few bucks rental charge.
