Nitrofill is worth it!

G'day,

Just letting you know I had my tyres filled with nitrogen about 3 weeks ago and I am really happy with the result.
The tyre pressure stays constant and only needs to be checked monthly. If topups are needed they are free for a year after my initial fill.
I hated checking my pressures weekly with air - it was a PITA.
Don't have to do that anymore which is worth the price of admission!

Its same with regular air

clackavosticus 11-01-2015 07:14 PM

Regular air is not the same

Regular air is not the same - you lose pressure more quickly due to permeation. That's why with regular air you have to check the pressure weekly. Not so with nitrogen...

I don't care what is in you tire, you need to check your pressures more often than monthly.
I use regular air , I check my pressures every ride or weekly, it stays the same but I still check it... Nitrogen is IMHO mostly snake oil ... Your money your choice.

It's about time to put winter air in the tires.

I understand that nitrogen molecules are larger than mixed 'regular' air and therefore escape more slowly. (I still check my tires once a week with regular air though.)

Nitrofill is worth it!

Living in southern Ontario we can get huge temperature swings day to day or even morning to night. With regular air this can lead to temperature differences from when you start your ride in the morning until late in the day when you finish, between the ambient temperature change and normal tire heating from riding.

I've found that having nitrogen is not a substitute for proper checks and maintenance but it definitely keeps the pressures stable over longer periods of time and varied riding conditions.

I agree with the OP. It's worth it and I'll keep using it.

Regular air is already 78% nitrogen, so somehow the extra percentage of (almost) pure nitrogen makes all the difference? Umm...okay.

Was just gonna post that.... I went through this about a year ago.....

As every good schoolboy knows, air is comprised of 78% Nitrogen and 21% Oxygen, the remaining 1% being other inert gases and water vapor. Do you really believe that pure nitrogen adds value to motorcycle tires
..edit..
I see Nickatnyt beat me to it...
