Rain X Plastic Formula

I bought and tried the Rain X Plastic the other day because of how good the original formula works on glass. In short I would suggest that you save your money because there is no comparison in two. I cleaned the windshield (LRS) and face shield (Bell) then did three applications of the product the evening prior to a morning ride where we had light rain. It didn't seem to clear either surface any better than a good coat of wax or Plexus would. JMHO

Before I purchased it I found a review on youtube where a guy was testing it with a hose and it seemed to work well, but in a real world situation it isn't worth the extra expense or effort.

I've used the reg RainX on my windshield and face shield. Did notice some beading, but no where as good as my truck.
Is it bad to use on plastic?

I have been using it on my stock Ultra windshield for about 6 months now. I agree it doesn't work nearly as good as on my SUV or truck. I think part of the reason it doesn't work as good is because my Ultra is a flatter surface compared to windshields on my vehicles, so the wind doesn't "push" the rain off as well.

It eventually will turn the plastic cloudy & yellowish.

I use and recommend Cee Baileys... the make aircraft windshields, I trust them.

regular RainX should not be used on plastic.

I use the Moto Mask on my windshield and other glass/plastics.
It is made for polycarbonates.
Goldwingers praise the stuff, available at most metric bike dealers.
Video on their site.

Plexus polish works great.

Good to know. Thanks.

My owners manual says 'Use only Harley-Davidson recommended products on Harley-Davidson windshields. Do not use harsh chemicals or rain sheeting products, which can cause windshield surface damage, such as dulling or hazing. (00231c)' and most plastics makers don't recommend RainX. It might be good on glass, but not so much on plastic.

Of course it says to only use HD products, but the suggestions here are good, like Plexus and Cee Baileys.
