Default 2007 flhtc Michelin tires has my head spinning

So it is time for new tires and after reading and searching this site for answers my brain is dead (maybe the TBI), the stock front D402f MT90B16 is from what I found is the equivalent to 130/90-16 which is in the Michelin commander II size, now the rear D402 MU85B16 is 140/85-16 but the Michelin commander II does not come in that size, it comes in 140/80-16 and 140/90-16, I called the dealership and they said they have the right size commander II for my bike but the number was MU85B16 which is the stock dunlap number and not Michelin?????, can I put the 80 or 90 on my 2007 electra glide classic with out any problems or will there be rubbing or other fitment problems? I have dunlops on now but after reading the reviews of the Commander II I kinda have my heart set on them, and do you have any suggestions on brake rotors since I will have the tires off?

The 80 series will lower your bike about 1/4" and the 90 series will raise it about 1/4" compared to the stock tire. I doubt you'll notice it either way.

I sort of agree with raven. It's actually 1/2". The 80 and 90 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width - the 140 in mm. The 90 might be a little cushier as the height is 14mm more than the 80.

Unless you bottom out quite a bit, then go with the 140/80. The 140/90 is about an 1" bigger in diameter.

Have you thought about using the 150/80-16 for the rear? I have an 06 ultra and I'm in the process of buying commander IIs myself.

I think I'm going with the 150. Just tossing out an option.

The designations MT90B16, MU85B16 are US tyre specs, which are the same as 130/90B16 and 140/85B16 International specs. As an alternative you could consider 150/80B16, which will also fit your spec bike.

Have you thought to look at the Michelin website?! According to my reading of it, they offer the Commander 2 in 130/90, 140/90 and 150/80. They also offer the H-D Scorcher 31 in 150/80B16

Sorry Sir Graham, but did you mean the MU90B16 is 140/90B16 and not 130/90B16? I think MU is the 140 equivalent and MT is 130.

Ooops! Sorry Zen, got that wrong, thanks! Corrected in the original post. Meant to type MT, not MU.

Thank you guys, I think the 140/90HB-16 is the tire that will fit my bike the best, there is not much room between the side of the tire and my fender and while doing some more research I stumbled across this https://tiresize.com/comparison/, I entered a couple different sizes and I figure I can spare the height but not the width (there goes my lowering kit), but I am not yet ready to pull the trigger on this, I might restart my tire search and change my mind on the Commaned II's but we will see.

Ran the Commander II's 150/80-16 for a couple of years on '07SG had no problems with clearance. Ride 2up 95% of the time. The other 5% is only test rides after work on the bike is done before the wife will get back on.

You may want to check out the new Dunlop Elite 4, It comes in the reenforced 150/80/16 which will fit and several other sizes. I'm guessing the Elite 4 is in response to The Commander II and the Metz 888. I can tell you from experience that the new multi tread tire designs and compounds are "slick" and harsh riding. I went back to the D401 on the rear, my handling and ride came back with a 2000 mile loss in wear. I'l live with that.
