I have an 08 ultra classic with stock exhaust. Iwas wanting to remove my baffles to open up the flow. As i understand there is a catalytic converter in the front of the right muffler that should not be removed to allow enough back flow to keep it from popping and backfiring. Is this true??? And what is the best way to remove the baffles? The vid that i saw used a three inch hole saw to cut out the weld at the rear but mine is just a hair smaller than that. Mine have the slight tapper at the end. Can anyone shed a little light on this....thanks

 

no cats on the 08. 09 and up have cats.

 

I believe 08 did have cats in the muffler. Why not just get a pair of CVO mufflers and cut the 3 little welds and add the aftermarket baffles that are offered or just remove the center baffle on the CVO and call it good? I have a pair of CVO's for sale $150.

 

The 2006-2008 California and HDI models had the cat in the muffler. The 49 state models didn't have the cats. In 2009 it was in the muffler for all states, then 2010 in headpipe.
