I have a 2015 FLTRX/S with about 3500 miles. How many miles can I expect on the stock Dunlop tires?

What tire does everyone recommend for stock tire replacements when the time comes?

 

There are so many variables, it's difficult to say how many miles you will get (riding habits, psi, etc)
As a very general rule, the front tire usually lasts twice as long as the rear.
I don't care for the stock Dunlops, on this bike the front was cupped after 7k miles.
The bike before this one I got 12k on the rear and 20k on the front with the stock Dunlops.
After 7k on this bike, I replaced both tires with MC II's and am very happy with them so far.
It rides like a different bike, but most bikes will with new tires.

 

I've consistently gotten 20k on the rear for the 407 on my '12 Ultra Classic and 'Limited Low. Have always replaced with the stock tires.

 

Until my most recent two bikes, I'd have said 12-14k for the rear and about double that for the front was fairly typical. That said the stock Dunlop on my '11 Road Glide Ultra lasted just shy of 22k and the second around 25k. I replaced the front time around 30k and will most likely need a new one before the end of this year. I just replaced the stock tire on my wife's '14 Road King and she was at 20k. Her front tire still has a lot of miles left on it.

I'm fairly **** about the tire pressure so all I can guess is that the newer tires ware better than ones of just a few years ago.

 

I had Michelin Commander II tires on my prior Yamaha Roadstar. They handled well and provided 16,000 miles. I'll keep an eye on the cupping for the front stock Dunlop.

Based on group responses, I should get 12,000 or more from my stock Dunlop rear and more for the front, if the dreaded cupping does not show up.

I have about 4,000 more miles of planned rides for 2016. Sounds like I may be good for the rest of this year. I'll plan to replace the stock Dunlops in 2017 with some Michelin Commander IIs.

 

I am an aggressive rider and on the older frame with the 402 - 130 front and rear i got 5k miles on a rear and 10k miles on the front. With my '13 Limited with the 407's I got 10k on the 1st set. I wanted to change to blackwall so changed both front and rear with the new 408's with extended mileage rubber compound. Not yet to 20K so still testing round 2

 

Usually you get double on the front compared to the rear. You get less if you ride like me or unknowingly run through a pile of roofing nails. But then, you get to buy new tires and chrome wheels!

 

Just to clarify my mistake above, I should have stated 407T not 408

I replaced my original 407 with the new 407T at 10K miles and it is supposed to have a longer wearing tread compound.

 

I have 12,000 miles on my stock original Dunlops on my 13 Heritage. My rear is about half worn.

If you are a easy cruiser, you'll go far, if your a hard driver, you'll go near.

If you do burnouts, you'll get more women!

 

I ride hard. I got 12K out of front and rear. Front had a little left though.
Replaced with American Elites.
