Default Bike wouldn't start

So on Saturday morning I washed the bike to prepare for a ride. We were watching the grand babies and they were still sleeping, so I pushed the bike to the end of the drive. Went back into the garage to get my gloves, and closed the garage door. Turned the ignition switch, and flipped on the off run switched. After fuel pump shut off and idiot light goes off I hit the start switch and nothing. Radio was playing but thought I could still be a low battery, took the seat off and checked with my DMM, it was good, checked the cables everything good. Since I just washed the bike I was thinking I might have got some water in the start switch. Sprayed some compressed air in the housing, tried it nothing. Had some contact cleaner sprayed that in the housing, nothing. Decided to check the fuses, removed the saddle bag and inspected the fuses all good, put the side cover and saddle bag back on. At this point I'm dreading opening up the hand control housing, didn't remember the deal with the brake switch plunger and the shim that had to be put in etc. so got ready to push the bike back up the drive and into the garage, when I went to push it didn't move. All together now "what a dumbass" took me 30 mins to realize bike was in gear. Thank God the grand babies were here, if not the bike would still be in the garage and I wouldn't have pushed it. Would have went to the harley shop to buy a new switch of course mine are chrome so they probably would have had to order one. Would have probably broke the brake switch. Only thing missing was my wife saying "did you turn it on"?

It's been quite a few years ago, but also been there and done that. Pisses you off but then you're glad that it was nothing else that caused it.

The neutral light is on, but i still pull the clutch in when i start. Just always, before neutral lights, did it that way. I like the lights, but i don't rely or put 100% stock in them. Just a safety thing I've always done.

I think that is why when i read the post i also wondered why wouldn't start? Pull the clutch in and hit the starter, doesn't start now and we have problem.

But regardless of your procedure, when the grand babies are sleeping, everything else is secondary.
