Most everybody has a cell phone and many will record sound. I was thinking those of us who are interested in comparing the sound of our engines could do a brief recording and post it here.
I know my idling bike makes a lot of racket but much of that is static components such as shifter linkage etc. Also over the years I think my engine does sound different but I adjust to it over time and really don't know if it makes more/less racket than the typical engine.
I recently did a cam swap and after a full fluid change recorded this sound file. Any comments welcome and I would like to hear some of your guys and gals idling bikes as well, with comments as to what bike, exhaust, cams, tuner and or any other pertinent information.
This file is 25 seconds long and starts on the primary side, a walk around the front and ends at the cam side. I did not record the sound at the exhaust but maybe will post another file of that.
My bike: 2007 FLHTCU, 51,000 Miles, Stage 2 with S/E High Flow A/C, V&H True Dual Headers, 3.5" V&H Slip-ons, S&S 551 Easy Start Cams, S&S Quickie Adjustable Push Rods, Fueling HP+4000 Lifters, PCV and Autotune.
It warms up to a nice Idle, I did have the timing set back a little just for fun, I don't make a habit of that though. I have an mp4 file of the bike but I dont know how to get it on here.
