Riding with saddlebag lid open

Not just Harleys though, I followed a Victory for two hours with his lid open. It was a two lane highway and I couldn't find a spot to pull up and warn him.
I have bought more groceries than my hard bag could handle. Had to leave the top open for a couple miles. That is when I miss the RKC leather saddle bags. They hold a 3rd more than the hard bags. Two gallons of milk fit easily in the classic bags; just one barely fits in the hard bags.

I have thought about an LED light on a mercury switch. That way, when open, I should be able to "brightly" see that I have not buttoned everything up.

Maybe a new switch so the bike won't start unless the bags are secure?
