Had a lift master 8165 installed...I wired in my harley opener and behold it wont work....Called tech on lift master they say they use new advance signal and a external wired in opener wont work....The opener flashes a error code when i cycle the bright light. SOOOOO has anyone else run into this??? How can i get around this with out getting nother clip on opener that they sell of course that works their door....thats not water proof

 

If the remote button that goes by your door into the house is one of those fancy temperture and clock models, that is probably your problem. I put a simple push button one on and problem went away on mine.

 

That is a chamberlain right? If so with the new ones you need to get another piece. I will post the link tomorrow for you. It is easy to install and program.

hopefully you can get an easy fix. I know when I changed mine out I had all kinds of problems with the remotes working. They came back out and changed something and never told me the whole story. Part of what they said had to do with the frequency that it operates.

Installed a LiftMaster 8500 jack shaft garage door opener in my garage a couple years ago. It didn't work with my Thunderbird's HomeLink internal wireless remote. LiftMaster's Compatibility Bridge solved the problem. Had something to do with rolling-codes. Plugged it into the wall in my garage then used provided hand control to set it up with my car's wireless remote. Works fine now.
