Are you sure it's not the cam reversion your hearing through the breather? It's most notable at take off and lower RPM's than any other time.
I think we have a winner.
I just got in at home. Rode from rapid city to great falls montana. Some 556 miles is a little less than 8 hours. No grass growing under my wheels today.
Only time the bike clucked was during a very slow speed take off. On a normal take off no clucking. Im going to change out the air cleaner tomorrow to a ventilator as i have one on the shelf and see if this masks the sound at slow speed. If thats the case then what im hearing is reversion through this very open air cleaner.
Thanks for all the replys. Oh by the way original compensator and no its not the comp. Ive had that issue and understand that sound. This is the first time ive heard cam reversion this badly.

Put this air cleaner on within last month about 6 weeks after cam change.
Extreme billet chisel air cleaner. Got it cheap from a individual who was trading in their bike. I think its open design realy lets the sound travel where other air cleaners muffle it somewhat.

Yessir that's gonna be it. An open air breather such as that one doesn't mask the reversion like the OEM cover does.
To close out this post, de installed the Chisel extreme billet air cleaner today and installed a ventilator in black i had laying around from a previous project.
Clucking or cam reversion significantly reduced and noise almost completely eliminated.
Given this, i will probably stay with the ventilator and put the chisel up for sale.
I believe the Chisel flows at least equal if not more air than the ventilator, however the ventilator probably flows more than enough air for a mildly cammed 96.
If i go bigger, i will deal with a higher flow then but since bigger will probably require a bigger TB, it will be good to wait.
I think the chisel would be good for a stock cammed stage 1 or a built 107 than needs massive airflow but nothing in between
